Malik Riaz Hussain asked for $10 million ransom by Taliban: Nacta
The National Counter Terrorism Authority (Nacta) has urged the governments of Punjab and Sindh to bring in all the required measures to combat the threats put through in front of renowned real estate developer and investor, Malik Riaz, by an arm of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which demanded $10 million as the extortion money.
As per the recently surfaced reports, Nacta informed the concerned authorities about an email of the in-charge of the TTP’s finance wing, which got sent to Malik Riaz Hussain. The email stated a demand of $10 million as extortion money from Malik riaz.
The email includes all the details regarding the extortion money along with the bank account number where the money needs to be deposited. As per the sources, the email further adds that Malik riaz Hussain and his family will face dire consequences’. The email has created a lot of insecurity amongst general public and people are putting through their concern about the same. Most of them are coming with the thought that if a philanthropist like Malik riaz isn’t safe in this country, what can we expect from the government in regards to their security.
As per the statement issued by the concerned authorities, the director general of the Federal Investigation Agency, provincial police chiefs of Sindh and Punjab and Islamabad commissioner have been summoned to take the required action on the same as soon as possible.
