Minor Underwent Liver Transplantation operation at Bahria Town Hospital in Lahore
Bahria Town Children’s Hospital and Organ Transplant Centre, Lahore, one of the most renowned hospitals, has recently carried out their maiden successful pediatric liver transplant operation on a three-year-old girl.
According to a statement released by the hospital on Tuesday, the child was undergoing a liver disease since her birth, and it was her mother who donated her piece of liver to save her daughter from dying. The liver transplant operation was been carried out by a team of doctors, headed by pediatric liver and kidney transplant surgeon Dr Khalid Sharif along with Dr Faisal Hanif, Prof Dr Huma Arshad Cheema, whilst carried forward as a complex operation, lasted for a duration of around 10 hours. Altogether, a team of 62 members in total, including the staff from medical and paramedical staff, conducted the same operation. Malik Riaz Hussain and Ahmed Ali Riaz, who are proudly known as the Chairman and CEO of Bahria town respectively, have appreciated this landmark achievement by the Bahria town hospital.
Fortunately, both the child patient and the mother donor are stable with their condition and now been shifted immediately to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
